    Frequently asked questions

What are indices, and how do they work in trading?

An Indice CFD (Contract for Difference) allows you to trade on the price movements of a stock market index without owning the underlying stocks. In finance, an index is a statistical measure that represents the performance of a specific sector or segment of the stock market. Indices track the collective price movements of a group of stocks, providing insight into market trends. With Indice CFDs, you can speculate on rising or falling prices, giving you opportunities to trade in both bullish and bearish markets.

How are index CFDs different from trading stocks?

With CFD trading of indices, you’re not buying individual stocks but trading on the collective movement of an entire market or sector. Index CFDs allow you to speculate on the price movements of major global indices without owning the underlying assets. This offers both diversification and easier management compared to trading individual shares.

What indices can I trade with CFDs on Versus Trade?

We offer a broad selection of global indices for CFD trading, including popular ones like US30, ES35, EU50, JP225, HK50, US100, US500, UK100, SWI20, CHA50, RUSSELL2000, and many more. These indices allow you to diversify your portfolio and trade entire market sectors.

Can I trade indices after market hours?

Indices trading is available only on weekdays, as it follows the operating hours of the respective stock exchanges. Each index has specific trading hours based on its market, with some offering extended sessions. For exact trading times, please refer to the details provided above on this page.

What are swaps, and do they apply to index trading?

Swaps are fees charged or credited for holding positions overnight, processed daily at 00:00 GMT+3. Triple swaps are applied on Wednesdays to account for weekend financing costs.

For Muslim clients, we offer Islamic accounts where no swaps apply be default. For other clients, Versus Trades provides a swap-free program, which ensures that all index CFDs are traded without swaps, allowing you to avoid overnight charges on these instruments.

Are there tools to help with index trading?

Yes, we offer a range of tools including technical indicators, charting tools, and real-time market data to assist you in making informed decisions when trading indices CFDs. These tools are available through MetaTrader 5 (MT5), providing access to advanced charting and analysis features.
